Steiner Education isn’t doing well Down Under according to this transcript of an Australian broadcast -

Note this reason as to why one parent, Ray Pereira, removed his kids from a Steiner stream. At a parent-teacher interview the teacher gave Ray her assessment of one of his two boys at the school. According to Ray:
“She (the teacher) thought his (Ray’s boy) soul wasn’t fully incarnated yet…and then she pulled out some drawings that he’d done which showed him, I guess, looking down, like a planned view of what he was drawing and she used this as evidence that his soul was hovering over the earth and looking down on the earth and so, therefore, she felt that he wasn’t quite ready to move into the following year.”
To put this into its context you should know that the Aussies are experimenting with their education system by allowing some schools to use the Steiner system. Quite rightly Ray Pereira goes on in the above mentioned broadcast to comment:
“I would like the Education Department to tell me where, in the guidelines, where reincarnation is a criteria for putting my kid up into another class or not.”
That’s a good question Ray.
Parents, be advised that one card Anthroposophists play in defending Steiner education is to stress that Anthroposophical belief isn’t taught in schools. Well, they don’t really need to do they when it’s a case of practicing what they believe in rather than preaching it.
