More Rumpus

Now they can’t count sheep

The continuing experiment in Australia of having Steiner streams within a mainstream primary school setting is again surrounded by controversy.

Last time around it concerned a teacher interpreting a child’s artwork to indicate that the child’s soul wasn’t ready to progress to another class. This time around it’s an abysmal level of literacy and numeracy attainment by pupils at a school running the same experiment of having a Steiner stream within the school.

OK, we’re offering odds as to what the next bit of Rumpus Down Under regarding the Steiner experiment might be.

Hot favourite as we go to press is a bad science story but there’s a lot of punts for the next controversy to be an ‘inadequate handling of bullying’ scenario. Strangely, nobody within CHASE fancies a flutter on it being a quack medicine fiasco next time around.

So it’s even money for ‘bad science’, 2:1 bullying and a super dooper generous offer of 6:1 odds for quack (complementary or alternative medical treatment or diagnosis of kids) being the next controversy to cloud the Steiner experiment in sunny Australia. Six to one!
